Google Business Profile updates in Fall 2022: what you need to know
If you haven’t logged into your Google Business Profile (GBP) account for a while, be prepared for some significant changes. After small, often optional, shifts over the past few months, Google is finally settling into a new user-interface standard and process for updating your Google Business listings.
Get caught up with everything your team needs to know about these Google Business Profile adjustments:
Fall 2022 GBP update overview
The biggest shock — no longer will you make most GBP updates by going into a separate GBP management page to edit your profile. Instead, when logging in with the correct email address, find your live location listing directly on the Google Search page.
You’ll see a row of icons directly under the search bar. By clicking on these icons, a corresponding pop-up will appear. This is where you’ll now make updates and adjustments.
Note the few additions that now appear right up front. Alongside mainstays like Edit Profile, Messages, and Calls, users can more easily access GBP features like Booking, Q & A, and Advertise. You can also click the downward arrow icon in the bottom right to expand the menu and see more options.
Advanced features & other common adjustments
Some regularly used features have moved to an Advanced Features expansion menu. This can be accessed by clicking the three small dots at the top right of the new navigation menu.
Here are a few additional notable updates:
The Add, Edit, and Remove User Access feature has moved. Here’s a quick how-to:
- Click the three dots to expand the new menu
- Click and open Business Profile settings
- Click Managers
- Add, edit, and remove GBP profile managers
Under the Business Profile settings tab, you also can:
- See your profile ID
- Manage labels and store codes
- Remove or transfer ownership of profiles
- Manage linked accounts
Appointment Links now reside under Bookings. Note that it’s now titled Links to your online booking tools. Here’s how to get there:
- Click Bookings
- Click Links to your online booking tools
- From here, you’ll enter your URL for clients to book appointments
If you don’t have a booking link directly through your website, you can partner with a third-party provider to get them set up! To do this:
- Click Bookings
- Click Get Started under Featured Book button
- Google will prompt you to choose a third-party provider to help you with this service
